The supermaxi  started life as Alfa Romeo in 2005. Rebranded in the Black Jack navy and chequered livery in 2017 and extensively modified to make her a lightweight specialist. Black Jack RP100 features the latest in revolutionary sailing technology such as canting keel, movable water ballast, lightweight high modulus carbon fibre everywhere and even a tungsten bulb.

ROLEX SYDNEY TO HOBART 2017

 

Often referred to as the most gruelling yacht race in the world, The Rolex Sydney to Hobart is a challenge to anyone who chooses to take part. Strong tides, wind and hazardous coastlines are apart of the journey. Over the past 69 years, the event, held on 26th December (boxing-day), has become an icon of Australia’s summer sport. Participants from maxi yachts to weekend racers, starting in Sydney Harbour and the race takes the international fleet 628 nautical miles to the finish line in the Derwent River, Hobart.

MEET THE CREW

We have taken the core of the team from the 70, but we are now 18 souls strong. Throughout the iterations of Black Jack maxis, a strong consistent and talented team has always been our focus. Sail makers like Skipper Mark Bradford and Vaughan Prentice. Riggers such as Bruce Clarke or naval architect Alex Nolan.
